On January 1, 1969 , Paul J. Lamiell opened the Lamiell Funeral Home in Canton with the mission of serving the Stark County community in a comforting and affordable family like manner after the loss of a loved one. This mission is said in our motto Our Family Serving Your Family. As the years progressed the facility has been expanded; his son, Paul J. PJ Lamiell, Jr. joined him as a funeral director; preplanned and prefunded funeral planning was introduced and other changes have occurred. One thing has not changed, our motto of

Paul J. Lamiell (1939-2011)
Paul is a life resident of Canton and a graduate of Lehman High School . He attended John Carroll University , Kent State University and graduated from the Cincinnati College of Embalming. He is a licensed Ohio Funeral Director and Embalmer. In 1969 he founded the Lamiell Funeral Home, which he is currently President. He is a member of St. John the Baptist Church , the Rotary Club of Canton , Knights of Columbus Council No. 341, Msgr. Graham Assembly Fourth Degree K. of C., and Catholic Men's Luncheon Club. He has been active in the Canton Jaycees and several volunteer boards. He has two sons, Paul Jr. and Stephen and six grandchildren.

P.J. is a life resident of Canton and a graduate of McKinley High School . He is a graduate of Xavier University and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He is a licensed Ohio Funeral Director and Embalmer and joined his father in the family funeral home in 1983. He is a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Rotary Club of Canton, Canton Council No. 341 Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Graham Assembly Fourth Degree K. of C., Catholic Men's Luncheon Club, and the JCI Senators. He is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of the YMCA of Central Stark County and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Meyers Lake YMCA. He has been active in the Canton Jaycees in which he was a Jaycee of the Year, Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival in which he was a Past Chairman of the Ribs Burnoff and Fireworks Committees, Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America, CYC Community Recreation Center in which he was a past President, and several other volunteer boards. He is a recipient of the 2010 Meyers Lake YMCA Adult Volunteer of the Year Award and the 1998 recipient of the Canton Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. P.J. is married to Sharon (Kirkpatrick) Lamiell with whom they have four children, Paul III, Kelly, Kristine, and Andrew.
