Ballard Johnson Jr., 86, died Thursday. Born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, he had lived in Canton most of his life, was a graduate of Canton South High School, retired from Timken Roller Bearing after 32 years of service and was a Marine Corps veteran. Survived by his wife of 66 years Wlima Jeane (Miner) Johnson, daughters, Lisa (Bruce) West and Janine (Herb) Burke, son, Jeff (Stephanie) Johnson, 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Stafford. Preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Humphries, parents, Ballard and Faye Johnson, sisters, Claudia Aldridge and Clara Stafford and a brother, Monroe Johnson. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with his grandson, Father Chad Johnson officiating. Private entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
