Ballard Johnson, Jr.

Ballard Johnson Jr., 86, died Thursday. Born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, he had lived in Canton most of his life, was a graduate of Canton South High School, retired from Timken Roller Bearing after 32 years of service and was a Marine Corps veteran. Survived by his wife of 66 years Wlima Jeane (Miner) Johnson, daughters, Lisa (Bruce) West and Janine (Herb) Burke, son, Jeff (Stephanie) Johnson, 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Stafford. Preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Humphries, parents, Ballard and Faye Johnson, sisters, Claudia Aldridge and Clara Stafford and a brother, Monroe Johnson. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with his grandson, Father Chad Johnson officiating. Private entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
