On Monday, October, 17, 2022, Raymond C. Lockaby, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, went home to be with the Lord after an apparent heart attack, at the age of 68.
Raymond is survived by the love of his life, his wife Marianne of 39 years. Daughters, Kara Rae (Joseph) Bisesi, Madeline Rey Lockaby. Granddaughters Annie, and Alivia "Rosebud" Bisesi. His younger sister Gladys Lockaby, sister-in-laws, Carol Coombs, and Nancy Hamel, and brother-in-law Richard (Debbie) Perretta. As well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins, who loved him dearly. Also, Special friends Carrie Marinakis and Jim Robbins.
Born on October 26, 1953, in Canton, Ohio at Aultman Hospital to the late Horace Lockaby and Florence Lockaby-Early. Also, preceded in death by son Jesse White, and father and mother-in-law Peter (Winifred) Perretta. He was a Perry High School graduate of the class of 1971, completed his welding certification at Akron Welding School, and was a certified Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic. Raymond was a dedicated employee at Collins and Aikman for over 40 years as a Maintenance Supervisor before retiring. He currently held a part-time job at Advanced Auto Parts, delivering car parts to local mechanic shops.
Raymond had a passion for cars and could often be found in the garage tending to the upkeep of his 1991 black Chevy Silverado, or restoring his 1937 Chevy Coupe. He was involved in stock car racing and was a licensed Pit Mechanic. Raymond and his late friend "Johnny Race" frequently competed in racing events at the Canton Motor Speedway.
He was an avid bowler through the 80s and was in a league with his wife and friends. He enjoyed most sporting events, especially watching Nascar, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State football from his favorite recliner. He could always be found in the audience at any youth sport or activities his children were involved.
He was an especially doting grandfather to his two young granddaughters, always greeting the girls with open arms. He was the only one to dub Alivia with her special nickname of "Rosebud" and Annie would often correct him that her name was Livia. He never missed an opportunity to play pretend or duck into the child sized play house in the backyard. His granddaughters especially loved being pushed on the swings at their Papa's Playground.
He loved animals and always indulged his childrens requests to adopt another stray cat. He very much enjoyed the company of his late grand-dog, Rieley. Taking her on walks, truck rides, and trips for ice cream.
More recently Raymond loved vacationing with his wife in Florida for the colder months. They would regularly visit car museums, go out for dinner with friends or family, and attend live concerts in the local park. He enjoyed attending service at Woodlawn Church in Canton, Ohio and Hope United Methodist Church in New Port Richey, Florida.
He enjoyed walking to the corner store in the morning for the daily paper, completing the crossword and sudoku puzzles while sipping a cup of tea outside on the back deck. He liked building model cars, cooking, and working outdoors. He has an expansive collection of souvenir pennies, wind chimes, baseball hats, and antique road signs.
Raymond was a devoted, family oriented man, and an honest and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all blessed to have known him.
