Anna A Kammer May 23, 2026
June 24, 1934 – May 23, 2026
Anna A Kammer, 91, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026. Born in Canton, Ohio, on June 24, 1934, she lived most of her life in Massillon, Ohio.
She was a graduate of Timken High School and the Timken Mercy School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for nearly 40 years, starting her career in pediatrics at Timken Mercy Hospital and later moving to psychiatric care at Massillon State Hospital. She was a caring and dedicated nurse, often recognized for treating her patients with the utmost respect for their well-being and health. She saved lives and gave comfort to those in her care.
An avid tennis player, golfer and bowler (just missed a perfect game by 1 pin!), Anna was an active and energetic person. She loved traveling as well as spending time together with her close family and friends. When not at work, you would find Anna doing her other passions: tending to her garden or cooking up some delicious meals. She was renowned for her tasty apple pies and Christmas cookies.
As a devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and later St. Joseph’s Parish, both in Massillon.
Anna is survived by her daughters, Subelle Piast of Calgary, Canada, and Marla Brynell (with her husband Martin) of Bjärred, Sweden; granddaughter, Sophia Piast; and grandsons, Spencer and Edwin Brynell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Artem and Helena Gursky; brothers, Mark and Martin Gursky; and sisters, Julie Gursky, Vera Fabinack, and Pauline Briggs.
Anna was a strong, caring, and devoted mother and nurse who will be missed dearly by her loved ones.
Lamiell Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and is privileged to assist the family. A service will be held at St. Joseph’s Church/Divine Mercy Parish in Massillon, Ohio, on May 28th at 11:00 am. Friends and loved ones are invited to share memories and condolences at www.lamiellfuneralhome.com.
