Arthur A. Ballou, Jr., age 84, died Tuesday. He was a life resident of Canton, 1949 graduate of Central Catholic High School, retired from Ohio Bell/AT&T in 1988 after 34 years of service, was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and a Korean War Army veteran. Survived by his wife, Joanne (Kroh) Ballou, daughters, Kathleen (John) Sapp of Hudson, Karen (Skip) Weisent of Canton and Amy Jo (Richard) Garey of Bedford, sons, David (Kristen) Ballou of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Scott Ballou of Balson Spa, New York, six grandchildren, Tricia (Brian), Stephen, Elizabeth, Madison, Catie and Jonathan, sisters, Margaret "Peg" Fisher of North Canton and Mary Eileen (Donald) Hoot of Massillon and brother-in-law, Jack Bennett of Canton. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Margaret (Malloy) Ballou, sisters, Catherine Steves, Alice Wade, Joan Bennett, Julia Hayes and Emma Schumacher and a brother, Joseph Ballou. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with The Very Reverend Ronald Klingler as celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist or Mercy Hospice.
