Ashken Mkhitaryan
January 19, 1929- June 2, 2021
Our beloved Ashken Mkhitaryan, age 92, died on Wednesday. Ashken was born in Yerevan, Armenia. She began practicing medicine at the young age of 16, acting as a nurse for Dr. Melkon Ghazanchyan in Talin, Armenia, while also studying nursing. Soon after she met his son, Zhora Ghazanchyan and after a 7-year courtship she married her life partner and friend in 1953. She continued her education in nursing, attaining her degree. Ashken soon became the head nurse at the Artashat Hospital, where Ashken and Zhora raised their wonderful three daughters. She was loved by all who knew her and was known for her kind and generous heart. Her presence livened up any room. She lived to help and serve others. Ashken and Zhora moved to United States in 2005 to live close to their daughters and grandchildren, and made Canton, Ohio their new home.
Ashken is proceded in death by her parents Eva and Manuk Mkhitaryan, her sister Rosa, brothers Zhora and Albert. She is survived by her husband Zhora Ghazanchyan, daughters Zhanna (Ruben), Marina (Araik) and Karina (Gro), grandchildren Artur, Lilit (David), Inga (David), Gurgen, Mikayel (Veronica-fiancée), Georgii, Michael, Luiza, great-grandchildren Madeline, Erik, Emma, and Annabel, as well as sister Helena, brothers Helbert (Sophia) and Robert (Dusha).
Family and friends are welcome to join the gravesite funeral at North Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, June 5th at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
