Barbara Jean Casper, 91, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, in her Canton home. She was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Canton, OH, to Barbara (Burk) and Fabian Kessler, both deceased. She graduated from Mt. Marie Academy in Canton and later worked at Bell Telephone before retiring from The Hoover Company. She enjoyed watching sports, including her beloved CAVS, playing cards with her grandchildren, completing word search puzzles and talking with her chat room friends. "It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived," she believed. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Casper, who passed the same day 32 years ago, brother Robert Kessler and great-grandson Adam Cutlip. She is survived by four daughters: Barbara Jean (John) Schick of North Canton, Canice (Michael) Tolin of Canton, Mary Ann Casper of the home and Jane (Kevin) Briggs of Palmer Lake, CO; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren: David (Kim) Tolin, Jared, Ryan, Brady and Carter of Canton; Katie Tolin (Sean Venosdale) of Canton; Patti (Cory) Cutlip and Megan of Elizabeth, WV; Barbee (Chris) Hendrix, Max and Margaux of Delaware, OH; Stephen (Michelle) Tolin, Tyler, Cassidy and Riley of Canton; Douglas (Erin) Tolin, Nathan, Connor and Gavin of Canton; Nancie Schick, Nadiea, Aarika, Adrianna and Elliot of North Canton; Jean Ann (Michael) Elefterin, William, Aliyah and James of Canton; and Evan Briggs (Melodie Behringer) of Appleton, WI; surrogate son Ron Kelly of Phoenix, AZ; special niece Judith Ann Kocher-Shupe of Tuscon, AZ; surrogate grandson Scott Addessi of Canton; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews and cousins; and her fur-babies Penny and Holly. Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8 at Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Jan. 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Servant Parish, 833 39th Street NW, Canton, with Msgr.
