Bernard F. McDonald, 95, of Massillon, died Sunday. He was a 1941 graduate of Saint John High School, earned a Bachelor's degree in 1951 and a Master's degree in 1958 from Kent State University, was retired from Perry High School where he was a guidance counselor and former assistant football and basketball coach for 30 years and in 2014 was inducted into the Perry Athletic Hall of Fame, member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, the Knapp Golf League and was a World War II Aviation Machinist Second Class in the Navy. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary McDonald, daughters, Pam "J.P." Morgan and Margaret McDonald, son, Michael (Jennifer) McDonald, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9-10 a.m. at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Father Brian Cline as celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
