Bertha “Bert” (Reikowsky) Schleis

Bertha "Bert" (Reikowsky) Schleis, age 89, died Monday. Don't cry because it is over – smile because it happened. She enjoyed the journey of life and would want all of us to celebrate. She lived life to the fullest and always a people person. She intensely loved tap dancing with the "Sophisticated Ladies" for so many years. She loved her dogs (there were many). She was most proud of her many years of work and achievements with the Pro-Life movement. Preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (1996), parents, Fred and Bertha Reikowsky, sisters, Mary Wise and Helen Janelli and brothers, Louis and Fred Reikowsky. Survived by a sister-in-law, Joanne Reikowsky, many nieces and nephews and numerous loving friends. Special thanks to Mercy Hospice for their loving care and nurses and aides, Tabitha, Stacy, Marlene and Kendall at The Homestead of GentleBrook for their wonderful care. Family and friends will meet on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church (North Canton) for a Mass of Christian Burial with Father Marian Babjak as celebrant. Private Burial will be in Saint Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stark County Right to Life, Mercy Hospice or the charity of your choice.
