Beverly Tomer,
88, passed peacefully, following a courageous battle with cancer, on November 3, 2022 in her Canton home where she resided for over 60 years. She was born in Canton, Ohio and had fond memories of her childhood home in South Canton. She married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Tomer, and they resided in California until her grandfather died. In 1962, Beverly moved back to Canton with her husband, children, and grandmother. Beverly was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of the Basilica of St. John the Baptist Church. She was also a member of St. John's Guild. For much of her adult life, Beverly was a domestic worker, keeping house for many in the Avondale area. Extra time was often spent visiting nursing homes, taking in laundry, and manning concession stands at the St. Thomas Aquinas sporting events. She was well known for her homemade annual holiday treats. Beverly was an avid fan of baseball, and enjoyed attending Cleveland games annually. Later in life, Beverly continued to show her support for others by helping them to decorate for the holidays, taking car rides with them, and giving a listening ear. This was always done with a smile, a bit of laughter, and a positive attitude. Her friendly spirit and quick wit guaranteed that someone was never a stranger for long. Beverly always focused on doing for others and she was frequently involved with activities that enriched the lives of others. It was very important to her that others were happy in their lives.
Many events and good times were shared with her beloved sister, Donna Phillips, making precious memories. She left behind four daughters and one son: Jacquelyn (Wayne) Caple, Christina (Rolf) Truemper, Mary (Eric) Lassen, Michele Tomer, and Michael (Andrea) Tomer, as well as her sister, Donna Phillips, niece Kelly (David) Mangus, nephew Sean (Linda) Phillips, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Dolores Linhart Halter, father Joseph Halter, sister Karen Halter, husband Jack Tomer, daughter Cheryl Ams, grandson Curtis Jones, and nephew Tracy Phillips.
