Beverly “Jill” Pearce Weckel

September 11, 1927 — June 2, 2019

Beverly "JILL" Pearce Weckel age 91 passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon June 2, 2019. Jill was born Sept 11th, 1927 in Canton, Ohio to Jean Lennon Pearce & Clay Vernon Pearce. She was a graduate of Lehman High School, Class of "45" On Sept 28, 1950 she married Richard Bruce Weckel. Together they owned The Dog House restaurant and two PiP Printing shops in Canton. Jill was active in both businesses as well as being a homemaker and mother to four children, 4 dogs, 3 cats, some birds and at least a half dozen very unlucky turtles, and still had love to spare. Mom was preceded in death by Dick Weckel, her husband of 63 yrs., and her brother Jack Pearce. She is survived and sorely missed by: Marcia Pearce Thomas (sister), and her children: Cynthia Weckel Johnson and Ralph Johnson, Leslie Weckel Jeandrevin and Tim Jeandrevin, Scott Pearce Weckel, William Charles Weckel as well as four grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. While composing this obituary for my mother, I came across a small brass box that she had on her dresser top. I knew she kept clippings in it from newspapers, magazines etc. Things that she thought were profound or somehow pertinent. While not completely sure why, I opened it and found at least 20 small clippings and one coupon for 80% lean ground beef. However, the very first clipping when read, seemed particularly appropriate. Like someone else was singing her song or penning her story. ~Scott~ This is how it read: God looked around His garden & found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you & He lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road getting rough & the hills hard to climb. He closed your weary eyes & whispered, "PEACE BE THINE." It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God took you home. Though the smile is gone forever & your hands we cannot touch, we will always have sweet memories of the one we love so much. We love you Mom . . .
