Camilla (Lamiell) Thomas

Camilla (Lamiell) Thomas, age 83, died Sunday after a brief illness. She was a life resident of Canton, 1952 graduate of Lehman High School, 1956 graduate of Mt. Saint Joseph College and was a retired teacher having taught in various schools including St. Phillip and James Catholic School and Stark County Head Start. Camilla was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, several Bridge Clubs and a former member of Canton Women's Club, Canton College Club and the Business and Professional Club. Survived by her husband of 54 years, O. Lee Thomas, daughter, Victoria (Michael) Sterkel of Chesterland, sons, Lee Thomas, Mark (Sherri) Thomas and Paul (Tina) Thomas all of Canton and grandchildren, Tyler Thomas and Bobby, Missy, Molly and Sally Sterkel. Preceded in death by her parents, Paul R. and Victoria Lamiell and brother, Paul J. Lamiell. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with The Very Reverend John E. Sheridan, STL-Rector as celebrant. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist or Mercy Hospice.
