Carol Ann Nichols, 78, of Canton, OH, passed away peacefully at home on April 3 following a long battle with dementia.
Born on December 10, 1942, Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many. A strong woman of faith, she graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961 and was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Church and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church of Canton. She worked at Heggy's Nut Shop in the 1990s, before beginning her work as a teacher's aide for Canton City Schools where she retired.
She was a family-oriented woman and loved all of her family traditions, whether it be picking out a Christmas tree with her children and their families or buying her grandchildren their yearly Christmas Eve pajamas. She also enjoyed long walks with her dogs, Max and Jack, no matter the weather, whether it be sunshine or rain. With a love for sailing, Carol spent a lot of time on the waters of Atwood Lake where she was able to spend time with her family and friends at her camper.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Nichols Jr., and their three children, Claudine (William) Ruegg, Raymond (Traci) Nichols III, and Melissa (Ty) Jovingo; her sisters, Terri (Keith) Westlake, MariAnn (Jeff) Hupp, Jan (Mark) Robinson; brothers, Steve (Judy) Keim, Chris (Susie) Keim, Scott (Margi) Keim, Kim Keim; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her mother, Fredonia Keim; father, Claude Keim; and two brothers, David and Ted Keim.
A Mass of Christian Burial honoring her life will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Father Benson Okpara as celebrant.
