Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, OH at 10am. Carole was born to Robert and Maxine (Loos) Kiefer on December 28, 1942 in Coshocton, OH, the oldest of three daughters. She lived in Newcomerstown, OH and graduated from Wooster High School in 1960. Carole went on to earn a Nursing Diploma from Mercy Hospital in Canton, OH in 1963 and worked as a Registered Nurse in University Hospital and St. Anne's Hospital in Cleveland, OH. It was there in Cleveland where she met her husband of over 50 years, James Stanton, and the pair were wed in 1967. Carole and Jim were parents to four children. Carole was a homemaker, as well as a RN, working in long-term care and education. Carole was also an avid gardener and particularly skilled at caring for orchids. She also enjoyed movies, reading, and spending time with her family. Carole loved the beach and traveled to Florida often, where she and Jim lived for several years during retirement. Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maxine Kiefer; infant niece, Debbie Wells; and nephew, Robert Scott Wells. Carole is survived by her loving family: husband, Jim, whose tireless care and devotion to his wife has been the embodiment of love and faithfulness for their family and friends; son Timothy and wife, Kristin Stanton, and grandson, Kevin Stanton of Greensboro, NC; daughter Kerry and husband, John Panko III, and grandson, John Panko IV of Palatine, IL; daughter Jennifer Brixy and husband, Matthew Bliss, and granddaughter, Kate Brixy of Madison, WI; daughter Maureen and husband, Christopher Murphy, and granddaughter, Quinn Murphy of Chicago, IL; seven nieces and two nephews; and countless numbers of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. To share a memory or photo, an on-line memory book is available at www.lamiellfuneralhome.com. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Laurels of Massillon, OH, and to Crossroads Hospice, for their support and care in her final days, and to The Cleveland Clinic, for their outstanding care and support of Carole during her battle over the past three years. Your caring and expertise will never be forgotten. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 | NIV
