Catherine I. (Schott) Horansky, age 78, died Sunday after a long illness. She was a life resident of Canton area, 1957 graduate of Central Catholic High School, 1960 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing and was retired from Mercy Medical Center after 40 years of distinguished service and was honored with the 1993-94 Timken Mercy Medical Center Very Special Person of the Year Award. Catherine was a member of Holy Family Parish where she had been an active volunteer. She was a beloved wife and mother and cherished by many friends. Survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, David Horansky, daughters, Kimberly (John) Greer and Lisa (David) Kapper, eight grandchildren, brother, Charles (Helen) Schott, sisters, Eleanor Toussant, Mary (Dick) Burrell and Christine (Thomas) Miller, sister-in-law, Ruth (Joe) Brunner and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her son, David Horansky II, parents, Elmer and Anna Schott, parents-in-law, Julius and Velma Horansky and brother-in-law, Robert Toussant. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Clement Catholic Church (Navarre) for a Mass of Christian Burial with Father Shawn Conoboy as celebrant. Private burial will be in Saint Clement Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boys Town.
