CHARLES (SCOTT) WILLIS

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Our beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Charles (Scott) Willis of Canton, passed away from complications of cancer. He was born in Canton to his late parents, Charles Willis and Viola (Amadore) Willis. Scott survived this diagnosis for three years. He fought every infection, every setback and every complication with grace and determination. Scott was driven by his love and devotion for his family and friends, who were the bright light in this journey.

For over 30 years, he and his father owned a painting contracting business in the area. Scott attended Dueber Church. He was a 1977 graduate of GlenOak High School and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Kent State University in 1982.

Scott enjoyed cooking, attending sporting events and spending time with family and friends. Even though he graduated from GlenOak, his parents raised him and his sister as McKinley Bulldog fans, having attended over 500 football games, 1,000 basketball games and 62 McKinley-Massillon football games. He was also a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan. Throughout his life, he helped others in every way possible. Whether it was through volunteering in his community, helping a friend in need or extending a kind gesture to a stranger, he had a heart full of compassion. He was also an animal lover and leaves behind his yellow lab, Barney.
Survivors include his sister, Cheryl (Willis) Barclay; his nephew, Robert Barclay; and several loving and special cousins and friends. A memorial service for friends and family to celebrate his life will be held on April 26 at 10 a.m. at Dueber Church in Canton (645 Dueber Ave SW) with Pastor Jon George and Rev. Dan Snyder officiating. The family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to Dueber Church's Youth Program.
