D. Dennis Roman, age 79, died Wednesday after a sudden illness. He was a life resident of Canton, 1954 graduate of McKinley High School and had worked at Weber Dental and then retired in 2000 from the Stark County Sanitation Department. Denny had officiated high school football and basketball for 30 years. He was a life member and past-president of the Eastern Ohio Football Officials Association and a member and past-president of the Eastern Ohio Basketball Officials Association and was a member of the Stark County Amateur Fumbleball Hall of Fame. Preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. Roman and his parents, Harry and Commella Roman. Survived by his children, David (Lynette) Roman Jr. of North Royalton, Douglas (Lisa) Roman and Debra (Dean) Fox of North Canton, grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley), CJ, Dana, Taylor and Brooke Roman and Nathan and Jeremy Fox, sister, Cheryl Roman of Canton, brother, James Roman of Worthington, brother-in-law, Reverend John (Stella) Beabout of Seymour, Indiana and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (North Canton) with Pastor Hal Robarge officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
