Dan “Pops” Stoica

Dan "Pops" Stoica, left us at 5:22 a.m. Sunday morning, November 13, 2016 after succumbing to cancer 12 days before his 88th birthday. Pops was many things to many people. A son, brother, husband, uncle, father, mentor and friend in his personal life. His professional life a graduate of Timken Vocational High School (1948), U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Kent State University graduate (BS), prospector for gold in Canada, Junior High School math teacher and president of North Canton Teachers Union, graduate of Colorado University (Masters in Math), salesman for Tech School, stock broker, member of Carpenters Local 69 in Canton, and finally a member of Millwright and Pile Drivers Local 1871 in Cleveland. Pops left behind his four sisters, Helen Priest (Brighton, Michigan), Pearl Phillphs, (Massillon), Margaret Mihaiu (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) and Mary Flossie (Massillon), sister-in-law, Mary Ann Beck (North Canton), son, Robert Stoica (Canton), daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Jim Vaughn (Jackson Township), two granddaughters, Taylor and Allie Vaughn (Westlake and Jackson Township) and many nephews and nieces. A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staffs of Aultman Radiation Oncology and Aultman Compassionate Care Center for their empathy, compassion and professionalism. Services will be Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Joseph Indian School, P.O.
