DANIEL J. DOWLING, SR.

Daniel J. Dowling, Sr. 94, of Canton, Ohio, passed away January 29, 2023. Born December 11, 1928, in Louisville, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Catherine (Paumier) Dowling and one of five children welcomed into the Dowling family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Dowling Crowe and brothers, Tom and Jerry Dowling.

Dan's loving memory will be forever cherished by his family. Dan married the love of his life, Anne Staudt, who has always been by his side. Together, they had six amazing children, Mary Bea (Denny) Biedenbach, Cathy (Mike) Grady, Shari (Tim) Baechle, Teresa (Bob) Thomas, Dan (Kathy) Dowling Jr. and Amy (Scott) Pedela. Dan was so proud of his family including 14 grandchildren, Matt (Carrie) Biedenbach, Tony (Summer) Biedenbach, Tara (Carl) Barrick, Michael (Lesley) Grady, Ryan (Chris) Grady, Jake (Karrie) Baechle, Jenna Baechle/Connor Clancy to be wed, Erika (Ian) Smith, Laurel, Brittany, Aaris, Estelle, Carter and Vance. Dan was involved in the lives of his 12 great-grandchildren and is also survived by his loving brother, Patrick Dowling.

Living an extraordinary life for 94 years, he was a member of Shady Hollow, Lake Cable, and St. Michael Catholic Church. Dan was a mentor to all throughout his life. He had an impactful career as a coach, teacher, and principal. He retired as Director of Curriculum at Canton Local Schools.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. St. Michael Catholic Church, 3430 St. Michaels Blvd., NW, Canton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 AM. Father Patrick Manning will be presiding. Interment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery, Canton.
