David George Horansky, age 85, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 after a brief illness. He was the son of Julius G. and Velma E. (Martin) Horansky, both deceased.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Horansky, son David Horansky II, and brother Bernard Horansky (infant). He is survived by his daughters Kimberly (John) Greer of Oakland, Michigan, special grandson Steven Greer of Oakland, Michigan ("Grandpa's right-hand"), Lisa (David) Kapper of Mt. Eaton, Ohio, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sister Ruth Brunner of Canton, Ohio.
He was a 1955 graduate of Canton South High School and a member of the Ohio National Guard for six years. He was an auto body repairman for many years, and worked in garages around the Canton area, including Tom Edwards Ford, Jay-Mac Body & Frame, and lastly Wall Armour in Alliance. In retirement, David enjoyed painting, woodworking, and playing golf. He and Cathy enjoyed camping, boating, family vacations, winters in Florida, and travel everywhere.
He was a life-long resident of Ohio, having moved to Michigan in 2018 after the death of his wife. His heart always belonged to Ohio.
Visitation will be at Lamiell Funeral Home in Canton on Friday, September 16th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial in celebration of his life will be held at Holy Family Parish in Navarre, Ohio on Saturday, September 17th at 10:00 am. Burial will be at St. Clement Cemetery in Navarre.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's honor to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
