David A. Johnson, 83, of Canton, Ohio ascended into Heaven January 22nd, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born December 5th, 1938 to John and Della Johnson in Detroit, Michigan. A graduate of St. Clairsville High School he went on to graduate from The University of Tennessee Chattanooga and began a career as a school teacher, retiring after 35 years from the Alliance City Schools. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Sandra Barnard Johnson. Their three sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Wakenda Johnson, Keith and Brenda Johnson and Kent Johnson. His grandchildren Bryan and Jessica Johnson, Kyle and Liz Johnson, Kylynn Johnson and Alexandria and Thomas Helmick. His great granddaughters Isabella and Elliana Johnson and Winona and Vivien Helmick. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Johnson. Dave was an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His pride and joy being his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a steadfast Man of God and a member of Canton First Friends Church. He loved spending time with his family at his family home in St. Clairsville and being in the outdoors, hunting whenever he could and passing that love down to his sons and grandsons. He was loved by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and will be remembered by many. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home with private burial in Warstler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canton First Friends Church Sports Ministry.
