Donald E. Miller, age 88, passed away Monday in the comfort of his home and family. Born in Massillon, he lived in Canton most of his life, 1946 graduate of Lehman High School and earned a B.S. in Business and Education from Kent State University. Don retired in 1990 as the head of the math department at Hoover High School and had been a tennis coach at Hoover High School, Branhaven Swim and Tennis Club, Congress Lake Country Club and Edgewood Swim and Tennis Club. In 1985-86 he was awarded the Coach of the Year by the Stark County Tennis Association. Don was a member of Christ the Servant Parish and a World War II Army veteran. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Betsie L. (Kennedy), children, Susan (Duane), Mary Pat (Jim) and Greg (Cheryle), grandchildren, Donovan (Kristin), Aaron and Shane (Katie), great-grandchildren, Pacificah, Tyler, Jenna, Kyle and Farrah and faithful companion, Marley. Special recognition to Betsie's sister, Patricia E. (Kennedy) Kennedy who had this uncanny knack to zing Don with her funny quips and daily dose of laughter. Family and friends will meet on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the Servant Parish for a Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Military honors will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canton Lehman High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund or Christ the Servant Parish.
