Donna Lou (Butcher) Craig, aged ninety-one, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 19, 2021. She joins her beloved husband Fred Craig; parents William Butcher and Fern (Wharton) Butcher; her sister Norma Jones; and her brother William Butcher in heaven.
As a child she enjoyed spending her summers at her grandparent's farm in Harrison County, camping with her family during the Depression and later camping with her husband and children.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948 where she played saxophone in the band. After high school she Graduated from the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Donna worked in nursing for her entire career beginning as a hospital floor nurse, as a Visiting Nurse (her favorite type of nursing), as a nurse at St. Joseph's Care Center, and finishing her career as the Director of Nursing at the Joseph T. Nist Health Care Center in Louisville.
She considered her greatest accomplishment her family, marrying her husband Fred on August 7, 1954. She is survived by: her children, Fred (Loretta) Craig II, Daniel (Debra) Craig, and Norma J Craig; her grandchildren, Jessica (David) Duke, Sarah (Matthew) Kiel, Daniel (Misty) Craig Jr., Scott (Erika) Craig, and Adam (Leasa) Craig; and her great-grandchildren: Abigail, Samantha, and Katelyn Duke; Henry Kiel; Riley and Bailey Craig; Scotty, Nell, Mia, and Luca Craig; and Natalee Craig; and her sister Lois Nelson.
She was full of love and compassion. We will miss her dearly.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with the Very Rev. Canon Christopher Henyk, D. Min. officiating. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
