DONNA JOAN JAMES

Donna Joan James of Strasburg passed away peacefully the morning of December 27, 2023. She was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on November 26, 1943, to the late Stephen and Winifred (O'Donnell) Donohue, who preceded her in death. Also preceding Donna in death was her husband, Richard James on September 24, 2019; sisters, Kathleen Raimy and MaryWin Donohue; sister-in-law, Kay James; and brother-in-law, Daniel James.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marianne James and Charlene Sumser; brother-in-law, Thomas (Marjorie) James; along with many nieces and nephews; her dear friends, Jerry and Judy Slankard and Claudia Simon. She was forever grateful to the McBride family, who became the caregivers of her beloved dog, Maggie.

Upon her graduation from Central Catholic High School in 1961 and her nurses' training school, she married her love, Dick James on January 9, 1965. She and Dick live in Canton before moving to their little ranch in Strasburg, with her horses and dogs. This was her heaven on earth. She loved watching the deer and birds, but mostly, enjoyed ridding her barn of groundhogs with her 22. Donna was a caring person whose passion was taking care of others. She worked in the medical field as a Registered Nurse, where her compassion for others was a gift, she graciously gave.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Holy Trinity Church in Zoar, Ohio, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
