Dorothy A. (Evans) Vensel, age 98, passed away November 21, 2016. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1918 to the late James W. and Bertha (Donze) Evans. She was a retired bookkeeper from Robins Furniture. Dorothy was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Delta Tau Sorority. She had served as Treasurer of the Canton YWCA and in 1991 received the Lifetime Member Award of The American Cancer Society (43 year breast cancer survivor) where she served as president and treasurer. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Vensel who died February 1, 2016 at the age of 99, brothers, Thomas J. and James W. Evans and Raymond McGratton, and special daughter-in-law, Janice Vensel. Survived by her sons, Robert B. Vensel II of Wooster and Rev. David Vensel (Rebecca) of Cortland, daughter, Alexis Bartlo of Woodside, California, , granddaughters, Laurel (Dirk) Krieger of Woodside, California, Kymberly Bartlo of Pacifica, California and Dr. Jessica Vensel (Louie) Rundo of Broadview Heights, grandsons, Jason (Katie) Vensel of Akron, Joshua (Christine) Vensel of Marietta, Georgia, great-grandsons, Treythan Krieger, Andrew Vensel, Brycen Vensel, Carson Vensel and LJ Rundo, great-granddaughters, Tristyn Krieger, Ella Rundo, Evelyn Vensel and Eliza Vensel, two nieces and two nephews. Friends may call Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. 1353 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Canton with services to follow at 3 p.m. with her son, Reverend David Vensel officiating. Private interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or the Cortland United Methodist Church.
