Earl Joseph Hoot, 80, of Canton, Ohio passed away on January 5, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in Canton, Ohio on January 21, 1943. He was one of six children born to Earl A. and Mildred (Ellenberger) Hoot, who preceded him in death. Together with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kiesling Hoot; daughter, Deborah Hoot; sisters, Mary Alice Boso-Johnson, Dorothy Galliher, and Patricia Hull; and brother, Richard Hoot.
   
  
Earl, or "Joe" as he went by most of his life, or "Butch" as he was also known as, was retired from the Timken Company. Joe was a man of his word, brought joy to those around him, had a generous heart that knew no bounds, and touched many lives in many ways. His devotion to his family was one of unconditional love and mutual respect. Joe owned an ice cream stand that he loved running called the Snak Shak in Brewster, Ohio, from the mid 1980's to the early 1990's.
   
  
Joe's legacy of love given and lives touched will be remembered always by those who survive; daughter, Christine Posey (David Conrad); son, Joseph Hoot; grandchildren, Brandon Posey and Lauren Hoot; great-grandchildren, Emma Posey and Mia Briggs; brother, William Hoot.
   
  
In keeping with Joe's wishes and those of his family, there will be no service. Friends will be received at St. Mark's Episcopal Church undercroft, 515 48th Street, NW, Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, January 18th between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
