Ernest W. Arbuckle, Sr.

Ernest W. Arbuckle, Sr. age 90, passed away at his home on the evening of January 30, 2026. Born on January 23, 1936 in Canton, Ohio to parents, David and Flossie Arbuckle who precede him in death. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Shirley Arbuckle; son, Ernest W. Arbuckle, Jr.; and brother, Larry Arbuckle. He lived a long, full life marked by curiosity, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day meaningful.

He had a lifelong passion for trains — collecting them, studying them, and taking train trips whenever the opportunity arose. Whether it was a short ride or a longer journey, he found joy in the rhythm of the rails and the stories each trip carried with it.

He also loved the outdoors. Camping was one of his greatest pleasures, and he poured his creativity and determination into transforming a bus into a camper, turning it into a rolling home for countless memories. His ingenuity and hands‑on spirit were evident in every detail.

A proud member of the Eagles Club at McKinley, he cherished the friendships, camaraderie, and good times shared there. It was a place where he felt at home and where many knew him for his humor, warmth, and easygoing nature.

Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His family will forever remember his stories, his laughter, and the way he made ordinary moments feel special.

He is survived by daughters, Connie (Jill) Mendenhall, Susan (Mike) Stoker; sons, Tim Arbuckle, Jeff (Elizabeth) Arbuckle; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bruce (Lynelle) Arbuckle and Chuck Arbuckle, who will carry his memory with them always.

Per his wishes, no visitation or services will be held. Ernest’s care and the care for the family is being provided by Lamiell Funeral Home, Canton.
