Eugene Paul Tyler, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday. Born in Wooster, he had lived in Canton most of his life. He was a 1958 graduate of Wooster High School, 1969 graduate of Kent State University, earned his Masters from Mt. Saint Joseph College and was a retired teacher from the Canton City Schools. Eugene was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and a life member of the O.E.A. and N.E.A. Survived by his wife, Linda (Hosfeld) Tyler, daughters, Melinda (Ron) Chandler, Melanie Tyler, Meredith (David) Street, Monica (Brad) Shadle and Michelle (Jim) Pappas, son Eugene R. (Betty) Tyler, 13 grandchildren, sisters, Margaret (Steve) Durkin, Barb (Don) Baker and Mary (Tim) Zuercher and brother, Pat (Suzie) Tyler. Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene H. and Dorothy Tyler. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with Very Reverend John E. Sheridan, STL, Rector as celebrant. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist.
