FREDA M. BURLINGAME

Freda M. Burlingame, 92, passed away February 24, 2023. She was born July 31, 1930 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Fred and Mildred (Stinespring) Arbogast.

Her family moved to Canton, Ohio in 1941. Freda graduated from Malone College with a degree in education and attended the University of Akron and Kent State University for graduate study. She retired from the Canton Local School District after 28 years of service. She was an absentee member of Hillsdale Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida, attended Canton Baptist Temple, was a member of AARP, social member of VFW Post 3747, and an auxiliary member of McKinley Eagles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Burlingame; daughter, Pamela (Sawyer) Sterling; and brother Charles Bailey. Freda is survived by son, Stanley (Susan) Sawyer; brother, Al (Orpha) Arbogast; sister, Sharon Wheeler; granddaughters, Dawn Francis, Tammy (Steve) Lamiell, and Belinda Sterling; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

Calling hours for Freda will be Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with the service immediately following at 11:00 am, Village Baptist Temple, 6322Whipple Avenue, NW. Reverend Stan Sawyer and Pastor Phil Clayton will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton.
