"Together Again"

Freda Cunningham, 93, passed away at her home on July 6, 2026. Born May 12, 1933, in Alliance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Christ Hustus and Mary (Riffle) Hustus.

Freda was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was caring for her family. She will be remembered for her deep faith in Christ, her loving heart, unwavering devotion to those she cherished, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her.

She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Donald Cunningham; her parents; sisters, Vee Ward, Chris Orlando, Angie Barnett, and Helen Haynes; and brothers, Louie, John, and Mike Hustus.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dawn (Robert) Stark; sons, Richard

Cunningham (Treesa Goodwill) and Larry (Raquel) Cunningham; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, Kristin, Megan, and Ryan; sister, Anna (Delbert) Zumkehr; and brother, Nick (Sherry) Hustus.

Freda was the first President of the North Canton Columbus Woman’s Club for the members of the Bishop McFadden Council No. 3777 Knights of Columbus. Freda spent years catering dinners for various events that were held at the Knights of Columbus hall. Her devotion continued to volunteering for various undertakings at St. Paul’s Catholic Church which included being a greeter, member of the Women’s Guild, sponsor couple for engaged couples, lector, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She was known as all things hospitality - planning, preparing, serving and cleaning up for the Easter Vigil, the Memorial Masses, to receptions for new priests, she was the person who always organized it. She made decorative items for the altar which are still being used today. She spent years working with Father Tom Bishop organizing all the Eucharistic Ministers, who saw patients and distributed communion at Aultman Hospital and Mercy Medical Center.

Throughout her career, she was recognized for her excellence and dedication, receiving the Diocesan Lady of the Year 2002-2003 Youngstown Diocese Msgr. McFadden Council 3777 Award; 2004 Named Ohio State Council Knights of Columbus Lady of the Year Youngstown Diocese and State of Ohio Award; 2003 - 2005 Ohio State Council Knights of Columbus Lady of the Year State Honoree Award; and 2003 – 2005 Ohio State Council Knights of Columbus Lady of the Year Youngstown Diocese Award. These honors are a reminder of the difference one person can make and reflected her own belief in service above self.

The family will receive loved ones, friends, and guests on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lamiell Funeral Home, Canton. A Memorial Mass celebrating Freda's life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Parish in North Canton, with Father Matthew Zwilling serving as celebrant and Father Jay Clark and Father Tom Bishop serving as co-celebrants.
