George Poulos, age 80, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019. He was born October 17, 1938 in Canton Ohio to the late Sam and Helen Poulos. George was a graduate of McKinley High School in 1956 and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1963. He worked as a licensed funeral director in Ohio, Washington D.C. and Florida. He retired in 2000 and returned to Canton. George was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he received the Man of the Year Award in 2015. He is survived by his sister, Fifi Poulos, nephew, Chris Poulos, niece and her husband, Georgia and Mark Daverio, great-nephews, David and Mark Gosiewski, great-great-nephew and niece, Logan and Megan Gosiewski. Preceded in death by his brother, John Poulos in 2014 and a sister Mary Poulos in 2018. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Nicholas Halkias officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. George had a love for animals and asked that donations be made in his name to the Stark County Humane Society.
