Gloria Talarico

Gloria Talarico, 88, died Wednesday July 27, 2022 at her home in Canton. Born in New Philadelphia, she was a lifelong parishioner of the Catholic Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton. A distinguished alumna of both Malone University and Walsh University, she retired from CSE Federal Credit Union in 1993, then embarked on a second career of more than twenty years as an educator in the Canton City Schools Adult Education program. A community advocate for the less fortunate, in retirement she served the Quota Club of Canton, the Sons and Daughters of Italy, the Canton Christian Home, the Mayor's Literacy Commission, and the Samaritan's Table. Preceded in death by her husband Anthony, daughter Dianne, and son Michael, she is survived by her daughter Lori (Kevin) Coates of Green, son Anthony (Hoaiphuong Vu) Talarico of San Francisco, four grandchildren: Joshua Coates, Kara Geig, Kyle Coates and Yvonne Vu-Talarico, four great grandchildren: Sydney and Jason Coates, Lincoln and Luke Geig, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friend will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with Rev. John Keehner, JCL officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Samaritan's Table c/o CommQuest.
