Helen L. (Kieffer) Maloney, life was all about love of family & friends, community & country. So when she passed away on August 13, 2016 after a brave battle with cancer, she was surrounded not only by the love of her children, grandchildren—Robert, Jr., his wife, Pam, & sons, Rob, Joe & Patrick, Kathleen & her husband, Steve Raabe, Rebecca, Tim, Sr., wife, Holly, & children, Tim, Jr. & Colleen, Janet & children, Nathan & Jenna Franze—and 13 great-grandchildren, but also by the thoughts and prayers of countless others. A graduate of Canton South High School and Mercy School of Nursing, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert C. Maloney, Sr., parents August & Janet (Moffatt) Kieffer, brother & sister-in-law Harold & Helen Kieffer. She will be missed by so many, including her close friend from nursing school friend, Jacquie McClain, niece Mickie (Grady) & her husband, Terry Brozovic, and nephew Paul Kieffer and his wife, Tamee. Helen was a member of the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. She was grateful for the loving care shown to her by her doctors, especially Lawrence Penvose, D.O., and Scott McGee, M.D, and her Mercy Hospital Hospice nurses, especially, Kathleen Schleifler. Family and friends will meet on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist for a Mass of Christian Burial with The Reverend Ronald Klingler as celebrant. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 9-9:50 a.m. at the church. Helen asked that, instead of flowers, donations be directed to Mercy Hospice or The Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Don't worry, Mom-Grandma-Ga-Moo-Aunt Sis! The "must pay the rent today!" tradition will live on and you will always be our hero(ine)!
