J. Dennis 'Denny' Spragg

J. Dennis Spragg "Denny", 87, died on August 27, 2016, peacefully after a long illness. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Kent State University, and did graduate work at the University of Notre Dame. Denny spent his career at Republic Steel in Sales and Marketing. He also worked as an independent consultant specializing in stainless steel and titanium. Denny was a loving husband and father. He loved to travel, read, and entertain friends and family alongside his loving wife Caroline. Denny was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish for over 50 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Luncheon Club, Retired Executives and Professionals Men's Club, and the American Council of the Blind. In his earlier years he was active in the American Iron and Steel Institute, Seahorse Institute, Canton Chamber of Commerce, Canton City Club, SCORE, and was a Precinct Commiteeman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Caroline Conrad Spragg. He is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Sponseller and son-in-law John Sponseller of Canton, Ohio, son Christopher Spragg and daughter-in-law Dr. Candace Erickson of Cumming, Georgia, granddaughter Dr. Chelsea Spragg of Seattle, Washington, granddaughter Cassandra Spragg of Augusta,Georgia, sister-in law Joann Bertsch of Canton, Ohio, nephew Joseph Bertsch (Kathy ) of North Canton ,Ohio, and niece Susan Richardson (James) of Tucker, Georgia. The family would like to thank the sisters, nurses and staff at the House of Loreto for their excellent care and compassion. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Father Donald King as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home.
