Jackie R. Layne, LPN, age 46, died Friday after a courageous battle with cancer. She was raised in Canton, lived in Las Vegas and moved back to Canton in 2015. Jackie was a 1988 graduate of Timken High School, attend Stark State College and received her LPN certification from the Canton City Schools Nursing Program. She served as an LPN at several nursing homes in Stark County and in Nevada. She was a member of Apostolic Holiness Church. Survived by her life partner, Stacia Stokes, two children, Vivian (Chauncey) Thompson and Myron (Shannon) Thompson, two grandchildren, Javion Thompson and Chase Turner, parents and step-parents, Vivian and Ronald Cindia, Jack and Teresa Thompson and Diane Thompson, grandmother, Frances E. Fisher, two sisters, Margie (Norm) Evans and Michelle (Josh) Steck, three brothers, John Matt (Jessica) Thompson, Ronald (Kari) Cindia and Steven (Amber) Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Jesse Fisher, Comella Curtis and Garfield Thompson. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Elder Joseph Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
