JACQUELINE LOUISE (SHADLE) BROWN
Jacqueline Louise (Shadle) Brown, 97, of Canton, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026. Born on April 25, 1929, to Mac and Helen (Nieporte) McDowell, she grew up in North Canton and lived most of her life in the Canton area. She was deeply rooted in the communities she loved.
She was a proud graduate of North Canton High School and Kent State University. A retired beautician, she later devoted her time and talents to supporting teens in foster care through the Independent Living Program, where her compassion and steady presence made a lasting impact.
A woman of deep faith, she was a dedicated member of the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and contributed her time to the Parish Council, Marriage and Preparation Committee, and Adult Education programs. Her commitment to service extended beyond the parish, as she was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity and the OWL program with Catholic Community Services.
She had a lifelong love for animals, especially her cherished cats and dogs, who brought her great joy and companionship.
She now joins in eternal rest those who preceded her in death, her parents; first husband, Robert S Shadle; second husband, William J Brown; grandson, Casey Baker; brothers, Thomas McDowell and Robert McDowell; sisters, Inez Laubaucher, Etta Mangus, and Sister Jane McDowell.
Jacqueline leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever carry her memory; children, Gregory (Nadine) Shadle of East Canton, Daniel (Gail) Shadle of North Canton, Thomas (Kathy) Shadle of California, Larry (Marcie) Shadle of West Virginia, Andy (Debby) Shadle of North Carolina; and Barbara Baker of Oklahoma;19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Lightfoot; and the many lives she touched through her kindness, service, and unwavering faith.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, Lamiell Funeral Home, Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Reverend Brian C. Smith will serve as Celebrant.
