James H. McVay, age 87, died Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was a life resident of Canton, had worked at Nationwide Insurance and retired from the Timken Company as a Senior Applications Analyst in the steel division in 1996. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served many roles, a past president and Charter Member of Belden Village Kiwanis where he had perfect attendance since 1973 and was awarded the Legion of Honor, member of the Goodwill Industries of North Central Ohio Board of Directors, The Wilderness Center board of directors receiving the Distinguished Service Award in 1980, Stark County Historical Society, the Canton Lincoln High School Alumni Association which he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus award and the Alumni Service award, Retired Executives and Professional Men's Club, and served Plain Township on the original Park Committee and the Board of Zoning Appeals which he was a past chairman. He was a United States Navy veteran. Preceded in death by his wife, Pat (Hahn) McVay and a brother, Robert McVay. In celebration of Jim's life, we ask the next time you have a slice of peach pie or a cheeseburger, you remember a special time spent with Jim. Survived by his daughter, Pam (Ken) Wilzoch, son, Jeff McVay, grandchildren, Devin (Anna), Kelsey and Ryan Wilzoch, sister, Nancy Carr, many nieces and nephews and many special friends. Services were private with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the James H. and Patricia G. Charitable Fund c/o Stark Community Foundation.
