James R. Pearson

James Robert Pearson (Jim) passed away at the age of 66 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on November 6, 1954 to the late Clifford and Elsie Pearson in Painesville, Ohio. Jim graduated from Painesville Harvey High School in 1973 and Kent State University in 1978. Jim made Hartville, OH his home since 1979. Jim was retired from Indian River Schools after 25 years of service as a math teacher. He was always pleased to see that he made a difference on even one life. Prior to that, he was employed at GlenOak High School as a math teacher, where he also coached football, track, and wrestling. Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Beth (Elizabeth) of over 41 years, daughters and sons-in-laws Jen and Jim Thompson, Katherine and Zach Gooch, and daughter Rachel and fiancé Tyler Conner. He was proud a PaPa to his grandson Nolan Gooch; sister and brother-in-law Barb and Jim Grahl, brothers and sisters-in-law David and Sheryl Pearson and Bill and Becky Pearson; sisters-in-law Mary Stahler, Theresa Waechter, and brothers-in-law and their wives Bernie and Carol Waechter and John and Kelly Waechter; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other extended family and close friends. Jim enjoyed skydiving (until the thrill was gone), traveling, hiking, music, but most importantly spending time with family and friends, cheating at Euchre and spoiling Nolan. The family would like to thank Aultman Hospice for their short but wonderful care, and his numerous physicians who took care of him and those who took a personal interest in him. We know that Jim had an effect on many people. The family is asking that anyone who would like to share a fond memory, anecdote, or story about him and the impact he had on your life to please send it to family. Friends may call Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. For those wishing, contributions may be made to Wishes Can Happen.
