James W. Sams

James W. Sams, 76, died Monday after a battle with cancer. Born in Asheville, North Carolina he had lived in Canton most of his life. Jim was a Product Engineer for Handy & Harmon and retired as a realtor/auctioneer. He was a member of the Cathedral of Life and a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran. Jim was an avid Harley rider. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret "Winnie" Sams, daughter, Frances Sams, sons, Jim Jr. (Paula), Jerry, Jack (Tara) and Shawn Sams, sister, Susan Bettis, brother, Bill Sams, sister-in-law, Diane Sams, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother, Jack Sams. Family and friends may call Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home followed by a service at 6 p.m. with Pastor M. D. Gammill officiating.
