James E. Walker age 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior March 13th, 2021. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma 16 years ago, Jim kept up the fight and continued to live with cancer. He never complained and continued to smile and enjoy every day. The proud father of three boys; Christopher, Chad, and Shawn enjoyed many activities with his boys. He was a youth soccer and baseball coach. He was a Scout Master for Troop 92 in Bolivar, OH. He loved taking adventures to the Appalachian Trail, Philmont, New Mexico, and Sea Base in the Florida Keys. He looked forward to many trips to Canada fishing with family and close friends. His true happiness was in the little things; fishing, gardening, camping, home projects, and spending time with family and his grandchildren. He was also a huge Buckeye fan and enjoyed cheering on all the teams and listening to the Best Damn Band in the Land. Jim graduated from Louisville High School in 1968. He enjoyed music and played the saxophone in the band. He attended The Ohio State University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy. He started his career at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio and continued on to FRS Physical Therapy from which he would eventually retire.
He married the love of his life Marlene "Millie" Miller at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in 1973. They celebrated 47 years of marriage this past year. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Parish in Canton, Ohio. He was an active member of the Men's club and choir. He enjoyed and took pride in both. He also served in the S&H agape bread ministry.
He is survived by his wife Marlene Walker, brother Timothy and sister-in-law Dianne Walker, his children Christopher (Jamey) Walker, Chad (Cassie) Walker, and Shawn (Missy) Walker, grandchildren Reese, Brooklyn, Ava, Nevin, Audrey, Grant, Emery, and Marley and mother-in-law Elaine Miller. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Homer and Anna Tidenberg and Donald and Della Walker, father Harold R. Walker, his mother Gladys Jeanne Walker, and father-in-law Nevin Miller.
Jim was known and will forever be remembered for his beautiful smile and big heart.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church with Very Rev. Canon Christopher Henyk, D. Min. as celebrant. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 .m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Church.
