Janet E. Von Almen

Janet E. Von Almen, age 66, of Louisville, died March 28, 2017. She was born May 4, 1950 in Dennison, Ohio to the late James and Betty Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother-in-law, Veronica Von Almen; sister, Hazel Miller and brother, James Mitchell. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, John. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Emmett Von Almen; daughter, Christina deFays of Louisville; special daughter-in-law, Susan Elkins of Westerville; sons, Randy (Katie) Elkins of Westerville, David (Kandi) Elkins of Canton, Scott (Tiffany) Von Almen of Sunbury; sisters, Debbie (Rick) Manzolati of New Port Richey, Fla., Linda (Ed) Andrews of Canton; brothers, Charlie Mitchell of Waynesburg, Mike (Vivian) Mitchell of New Philadelphia, Robert Mitchell of Fla., and Paul Mitchell of Pleasant City. Grandchildren: Brittany Elkins of Canton, Megan Elkins of Westerville, Elizabeth and Sonrisa Caamano of Louisville, Matthew, Levi and Emma Von Almen of Sunbury, Ashley, Christian and Joey Andrews of Canton; two special nephews Janet loved as sons, Dale Clark of Pennsylvania and Dennis Clark of Cleveland; brothers-in-law, Dave and Robert Von Almen and sister-in-law, Delores (Rick) Christ. Janet owned her own cleaning business and dabbled in several small businesses including Home Interiors, Mary Kay, WildTree and Tupperware. Janet loved to work with people and was extremely talented. Everyone loved to have Janet's delicious and beautifully decorated cakes. Janet took great pride in taking care of people and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Green Meadows and Great Lakes Hospice for the love and care shown to Janet. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janet's honor to Great Lakes Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper St., Jackson, MI 49202. Calling hours are Thursday 6-8 p.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
