Jeanne C. Blaes

Jeanne C. Blaes, age 91, passed away on December 24, 2024, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH following a short illness. Born in Canton, OH on December 27, 1932, to John and Margaret (Reagan) Nofsger, she graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1950. She was an active volunteer for Timken Mercy Service League, Canton Garden Center, the Adult Basic Literacy Program, Aultman Hospital, and in her parish, St. Michael, where she was a member of Hope Ministry, a Eucharistic Minister, and a past officer of the Ladies Guild and the Garden Club.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard P. Blaes in 1997 and her sister, Ruth Ross in 2013. She is survived by her four children, Kathryn (Terry) McKibben of Portage, OH, Patricia (Tracy) Smith of Rocky River, OH, Richard (Karen) Blaes of Gahanna, OH, Mark Blaes of Dover, OH, and a daughter-in-law, LeAnne Blaes (Mark Lewis) of Mogadore, OH; twelve grandchildren, Erin (Dustin) Moore, Ryan McKibben, and Colin (Samantha) McKibben, Megan (Tom) Kirby, and Adam (Madison) Smith, Alexis, Ashley, Cassandra and Joslyn Blaes, Jenna, Mark and Leland Lewis; three great grandchildren, Evelyn and Claire McKibben and Ferris Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held for one hour before an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Canton, OH, on January 3, 2025, with Father Don King as celebrant and burial immediately following in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will be provided after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

The funeral Mass will be livestreamed at www.stmichaelcanton.org/funeralservices for those unable to attend.
