Joan T. (Brannen) Jestel, age 86, died Monday after a short illness. She was a life resident of the Canton area, 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School, graduate of Kent State University, had worked at Ohio Bell and retired as a Librarian from the Canton City Schools. Joan was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, St. John's Guild, College Club of Canton, the Pymatuning Yacht Club, American Library Association and Beta Phi Mu Library Honorary. Preceded in death by her husband Herbert Jestel who died November 8, 2016. Survived by her children, Margaret Beagle, William (Jennifer) Jestel and John (Linda) Jestel, two grandchildren, sister, Sheila (James) Menegay and brother, Daniel (Claire) Brannen. Family and friends will meet on Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg for a Mass of Christian Burial with Father Nicholas Mancini as celebrant. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 9:15–10 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
