Joan C. Tolson

Joan C. Tolson, age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was very devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family and watching it grow.

She was born May 19, 1940 in Canton, Ohio to Charles and Stella (Miller) Oldfield who preceded her in death, along with her husband, Victor Suter; granddaughter, Meghan Turner; great-grandson, Aydin Braswell; sisters, Jill (Oldfield) Miller, Judy (Oldfield) Barto; and son-in-law, Bubba Chipman. Their memories now reunite with hers.

Joan had a warm, steady presence that made people feel welcomed and cared for. She gave her love generously and without hesitation, and her family will forever remember her gentle guidance, laughter, and a tenderness she shared so freely.

She enjoyed the times she spent in Myrtle Beach with her sister, Judy.

She is survived by her beloved children, Terry Suter, Sherry (Mark) Turner, Krista Chipman; grandchildren, Chelsea (Dan) Courter, Courtney Suter, Matthew (Allie) Turner, Alexis (Bodhi) Martin, Kady Chipman; and 6.5 great-grandchildren, her memory will be with them always.

A Committal Service will take place in the Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Massillon. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Father Ed Gretchko presiding.
