JOEL D. SMITH

Joel D. Smith, 73, of Canton, Ohio, passed away December 23, 2023. He was born March 17, 1950, to the late Robert and Mary (Fondren) Smith in Canton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Dewell, an infant sister; and brother, Robert Smith.

He worked at Stark County Board of Disabilities teaching rehabilitation. He enjoyed boating, model railroading, and reading. He was a huge sport enthusiast, as well as a McKinley fan. Joel was generous and loyal with an enormous heart. He will be remembered for all the love he shared with family and friends.

Joel will be deeply missed by those who survive; his wife of 46 years, Sheryl Smith; sister, Elizabeth (Mike) Miller; and brother-in-law, Burlen Dewell.
