John Rochus, Iii

John Rochus III, age 75, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 31, 2022. He was born August 12, 1946 in Canton, Ohio to the late John and Ida Rochus Jr. A graduate of Canton Lehman High School and Mount Union University, John taught biology and coached basketball at Northwest High School in Canal Fulton. Following his retirement from teaching and coaching, John developed a true passion for fly fishing. Over the years, John educated himself on the principles and intricacies of the discipline and became regionally recognized as an expert in the field. He regularly held classes at Fin, Feather, Fur and Sippo Lake to help teach fellow fly fishing enthusiasts about the science and art of the sport. John is preceded in death by his sister Paula Smith (Kent Sr.) and is survived by his nephew Kent II, his niece Kristen Burkhart (Matthew) and his great niece and nephew, Elisabeth and Alexander Burkhart, all of Canton. Friends may attend calling hours at Lamiell Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 9-10 a.m.
