John Gary Wyler, age 79, died Sunday, September 11, 2016. He was a life resident of Canton, 1955 graduate of Timken Vocational High School, Adrian College in Michigan where he was a member of the ATO fraternity, and earned a ME from Akron University. John was inducted into the Adrian College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990. He taught and coached for three years in Michigan and then Timken Vocational High School until retirement. John was a member of Saint Marys United Methodist Church in Georgia and a former member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Kathryn (Kishpaugh) Wyler, children, Linda (Bud) Graske of Akron, Karen (Bill) Zantopulos and John F. Wyler of Canton, grandchildren, BJ (Liz) Zantopulos and Deanna Zantopulos of Canton, great-grandson, Tristan Zantopulos and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters, Betty Kirkbride and Ellen Wyler and a brother, Ralph "Joe" Wyler. Services will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Kishpaugh officiating. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. before the service.
