Joseph R. Faigley, 68, of Canton passed away October 11 at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Joseph, born July 4, 1948, was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Ellen(Gockstetter) Faigley. He was a 1966 graduate of Lehman High School, attended The Ohio State University and graduated with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Walsh University. Joseph taught American History and Psychology for 41 years at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, retiring in 2015. He was highly respected by his students, who called him firm, but fair. Joseph was a lover of animals, and he most enjoyed spending time with his wife, his animals, and his best friends, the Sturms. Joseph is survived by his wife Mary E.(Simpson), whom he married November 3, 1979, and his beloved animals: Molly, Millie, Maggie, Marbury, Madison, and Macduff. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Simpson, and two nephews and a niece. There will be a gathering on Monday from 6-7 p.m. in the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. with Father Thomas Dyer as celebrant. Private burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. Please no flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Stark County Humane Society or St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
