Joseph Lee Hanood

Joseph L. Hanood, 93, of Canton, passed away peacefully, the morning of September 2, 2026, at Rose Lane Nursing Home. Born on March 12, 1933, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, Joe was the son of the late Paul and Rose (Yasbeck) Hanood.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, he carried a strong work ethic and dedication to family throughout his life. Joe graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951 and went on to enjoy a successful career as a sales manager. He retired from the Pepsi-Cola Company after 30 years of faithful service. Following his retirement, he continued serving the community as a bus driver for Canton City Schools.

An avid golfer, Joe, could often be found on the golf course enjoying the game he loved. He was also a devoted sports fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on Notre Dame football, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Cleveland Browns. Above all, Joe cherished time spent with his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting memories.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Hanood; his second wife, Norma Hanood; brothers, James, Phillip, Louis, and George Hanood; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Eckelberry; and son-in-law, Alphonso Restivo. He is survived by his daughters, Tamara (Daniel) Gossett, Theresa (Sam) Huff, and Chamaine Restivo; sons, Joseph Hanood II and James (Lori) Eckelberry; sister, Joyce Tornero; brother, Paul Hanood Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Fran Miller.

Family and friends will be received for visitation on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lamiell Funeral Home, Canton, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m., with Father Ed Beneleit serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Canton.
