Kathleen “Jane” Packa
October 18, 1930 – January 14, 2026
Kathleen “Jane” or “Kate” Packa, 95, went home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2026, after a life well-lived and full of love, service, and faith.
Born on October 18, 1930, to Clifton and Hazel Patterson, both deceased, Jane was one of eight children. She was preceded in death by her siblings Walter Patterson, Evelyn McCully, Jennalee Patterson, Bob Patterson, Betty Teffeteller, and Roger Patterson. She is survived by her sister Ruth Mason, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jane’s life was a reflection of her deep compassion and servant’s heart. She devoted countless hours volunteering with Triosis of Canton, Refuge of Hope, Canton Garden Club, Red Hat Society and various church ministries. Her love for children shone brightly as she taught them about the love of Christ for more than 20 years.
Jane had many passions and an adventurous spirit. She loved playing tennis, bowling, walking, gardening, and creating beautiful flower arrangements. She was an active member of the Christian Women’s Club—now known as Women United in Faith—for many years and cherished the fellowship it brought.
In her later years, Jane enjoyed living at Canton Christian Home, where she embraced the community, stayed active in daily activities, and formed lasting friendships. She cherished the camaraderie, laughter, and opportunities to participate in the many events and programs the home offered.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Don Coates, whom she deeply missed since his passing in 1996, as well as her husband, Ed Packa.
Jane is survived by her son, Kim Coates, and his wife, Michelle; stepchildren Sebastian, Logan, and Elise; step granddaughter, Robin; granddaughter Lynne Coates; great-grandson Deon Lewis; and was especially close to her great-great-nephew, Austin Hart, whom she loved as a grandson. She shared a close and loving relationship with her niece, Lindsay Hart, who was like a daughter to her and whose devoted care and companionship brought great comfort in her later years.
Jane’s life was one of faith, kindness, and joy. She touched countless lives with her generosity and her unwavering trust in God. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Canton Baptist Temple/Henniger Ministry Center from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral Services will follow immediately at 12:00 PM, with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family kindly suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canton Baptist Temple, 515 Whipple Avenue, NW, Canton, Ohio 44708. Please visit www.lamiellfuneralhome.com to share prayers and fond memories, as Jane’s legacy is remembered. May her memory be a blessing.
